Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 13/11/2025

Welcome to Alternation Travel! We design curated and customizable travel experiences across Greece, collaborating with local guides, activity providers, and accommodations. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using our website or making a booking.

1. General Information

Alternation Travel (hereinafter “the Company”) plans, markets, and provides travel packages and local experiences intended for international visitors traveling within Greece. The Company’s registered office is located in Athens, Greece. By using our website or making a booking, you accept and agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.

2. Services Provided

The Company offers:

• Pre-designed travel itineraries and escapes
• Tailor-made experiences based on traveler preferences
• Mediation between travelers and local partners (activities, accommodations, transfers, gastronomy)
• Travel planning support and guidance during the trip

Alternation Travel acts primarily as an intermediary; the actual services (e.g. tours, hotel stays, activities) are often delivered by third-party providers. While we carefully select our partners and work only with trusted professionals, we do not own, operate, or directly control these third-party services. Therefore, we cannot accept liability for their actions, omissions, or failures, except to the extent caused by the Company’s negligence.

3. Booking & Payment

4. Cancellations, Changes & Refunds

By the Traveler:
• More than 30 days before start → full refund of deposit
• Between 15–29 days → 50% refund of deposit
• Less than 15 days → no refund (deposit lost)

By the Company / Force Majeure:
In the event of cancellation by the Company (due to weather, provider unavailability, or other force majeure events), travelers will be offered an alternative arrangement or a full refund.
Force majeure refers to circumstances beyond the Company’s reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, fires), pandemics, wars, acts of terrorism, political unrest, strikes, governmental restrictions, or major transportation disruptions.
In such cases, the Company will make every reasonable effort to inform affected travelers promptly and offer alternatives or rescheduling where possible.
No additional compensation shall be due if the cause of cancellation is beyond our control.

Modifications / Rescheduling:
Requests to change dates, services, or participants must be made in writing.
Changes are subject to availability and may incur extra fees.
The Company reserves the right to refuse changes within a certain window prior to travel.

5. Eligibility, Health & Safety

Travelers must disclose any medical or physical conditions that could affect their participation in activities (e.g. hiking, boating, kayaking).
Participation in certain programs may require signing a liability waiver before commencement.
The Company reserves the right to refuse participation if a traveler is deemed unsafe or unsuitable.
Travelers must follow all safety instructions provided by guides or providers.

Participants must be 18 years old or older, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Some activities take place in natural or uneven terrain and may not be suitable for travelers with mobility limitations.
Please inform us in advance of any special needs or health concerns so we can assist accordingly.

6. Liability & Release

The Company is not liable for delays, cancellations, property loss, injury, or death unless directly due to the Company’s negligence.
Activity providers have their own liability terms; travelers agree to be bound by those when participating.
Travelers participate at their own risk in outdoor/adventure activities (hiking, horse riding, boating, etc.).
By booking an activity involving physical participation, the traveler acknowledges inherent risks and agrees to participate at their own discretion and responsibility.
The Company’s liability is limited to the refund of the affected services or package cost.

Furthermore, because many services are performed by independent providers, Alternation Travel cannot accept responsibility for acts or omissions beyond its control. Any claims related to third-party services should be addressed directly to the provider in accordance with their terms and conditions.

7. Insurance & Insolvency Protection

Travelers are strongly advised to hold comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, accidents, evacuation, trip cancellation, and participation in adventure activities. Certain activities — including hiking, water sports, or boat tours — may require additional insurance coverage. It is the traveler’s sole responsibility to ensure they are adequately insured for all aspects of their trip. Alternation Travel shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense resulting from a lack of proper insurance coverage.

Under Greek law, tour operators must maintain insolvency protection to safeguard travelers’ funds and repatriation obligations in case of insolvency. For marine or boating activities, commercial vessels must have third-party liability insurance as required by Greek maritime legislation.

8. Package Travel & EU Rights

Under the EU Package Travel Directive, when a traveler purchases a package (two or more services sold under one contract), the Company has responsibilities to ensure proper performance and compensation for failure.

Travelers must receive pre-contractual information (destination, itinerary, total price, included/excluded services, visa/entry requirements).

Changes in terms must be communicated in advance; if price increase exceeds 8%, traveler can terminate contract without penalty.

The Company may refuse or remove any traveler whose behavior endangers others, disrupts the experience, or violates local laws.
Alcohol consumption during activities (e.g. transfers, tours) may be restricted.
Any damages caused by traveler negligence (equipment, vehicles, or property) are their responsibility.
